This new Maxxon Backpack Dry Bag 40 Liters BP-04011 is claimed to be 40 liters, which would be about 1.4 cubic feet, but in fact it is more like 28 liters and roughly one cubic foot. It measures 6.5″ front to back, 10″ wide, and about two feet tall.
Although not huge in volume, the contoured padded shoulder straps (with a waist strap) are very comfortable and something you would expect on a much more expensive drybag. And even though it is less squat than the old military black rubber drybags, this is still a reasonable substitute for one even if it won’t have quite the same lifespan. The side straps clip down near the bottom like the old black bags, and the internal volume is pretty close to them. And of course no military drybag ever had backpack features. The Maxxon bag is built with a moderate weight 500 denier pvc but it seems fairly strong considering a one cubic foot bag cannot hold huge amounts of weight. It also has a bungie harness on the front and two mesh pockets on the left and right for water bottles & the like.
The dark red color runs up the outward facing side, and the rest of it – bottom, sides, and the portion against your back – are all black.
